Notice for Patients

We would like to inform our patients of upcoming changes at the practice.

Due to the ever-increasing demand for NHS dentistry, changes to our staffing structure and upcoming changes to the NHS dental contract we are adjusting how care is delivered.

From April 2026, NHS-funded care will continue to be available, but delivery will prioritise urgent care, stabilisation of dental disease, and preventive treatments in line with national changes.

• We are delighted that clinical staffing of the practice has now expanded and that we have the advantage of a mixed skill set comprising of a Dental Hygienist, Dental Therapists and Associate Dentists as well as a Principal Dentist. It may be, for example that a child or healthy patient may be booked an appointment with a Dental Therapist; however, there will still be dentist supervision and if required, treatment by a dentist.
• NHS appointments will also be prioritised to our Associate Dentists and Dental Therapists, subject to availability.
• Mr. Jim Peirson the Principal Dentist will continue to be available for some NHS treatments, mainly more complex ones, subject to capacity and on an advisory basis, but most treatment will be carried out by him on an independent or private basis. The same will apply to Mrs Abby Blanch the Hygienist.

We are also exploring affordable maintenance plans for patients seeking regular private care, which we aim to offer later in the year.

We want to reassure all our patients that the practice remains committed to the delivery of NHS dental care to the extent of our availability, and there will still be NHS staff on hand to support and continue your treatment.
